Burial – Rejoice in Sin

Record Label: Apocalyptic Witchcraft Recordings

Year: 2024

Rating: 10/10

To say that the UK Black Metal scene is going through a resurge right now seems a little disingenuous although another way of putting would be that the torch is firmly lit and continues to burn through 2024 looking forward to more willing disciples heading into next year Manchester’s Burial look to end this year with stern, icy goat worship intentions as they once again bombard listeners with blistering soundscapes for their latest release

The opening title trackRejoice In Sin, is not only maniacal in its delivery but expertly sets the tone for the rest of the release. As it fires into Wretched Is This Life with its prominent baselines and thunderous drum patterns, one thing is undeniable: Burial has once again delivered a deliciously blasphemous gem.

Eight more unholy anthems continue to cement Burial’s standing in the current wave of UK BM with particular highlights such as Sadism For God, Putrid Grave & Beneath The Trident thrown in for the listener’s unholy delectation.

Burial

Vocalist Derek Carley comments:

“We’re proud to release our foreboding new album Rejoice In Sin.
Expect sinister black ‘n’ roll riffs; with all the carnage, bleakness and epic sorrow that Burial manifests.”

Production and Musicianship-Wise, the album feels a lot grander in its overall presentation. It is very much in keeping with previous releases, but Burial has still managed to incorporate more goat, which is never a bad thing in my books.
