When a soul forgets a connection to that of art, wherein the piece is bonded like that of sinew to bones, an ineffable essence is created. For now, the mind becomes the voyager, and art becomes the map that dictates the soul’s path.
The path in this context can be envisioned as one of serenity, for within the album “Immerse” by the entity Acathexis, through sounds the cincusounes traverses the plains of chaos, feeling the topography of its melodies as though you can trace a finer along it’s very being. But, the very lake of peace, the waters of serenity is discovered in the trek through discordance of chaos.
Songs such as “Dreams of Scorched Mirrors” and “The Other” exemplify the catharsis bestowed through this album, for within the musical architecture, the album undergoes a sort of metamorphosis, whereby the initial vehemence heard sheds its skin and the very sound crescendos into a new being. This serpentine characteristic is carried throughout the album and in my honest opinion, this becomes the most engaging aspect, as the strings and percussion manifest an atmosphere where each emotion that is bred from their unison of melodies, another is formed and devours the predecessor. The vocals on the other hand, give the dichotomy betwixt that of vehemence and total stillness of the mind, for the tongue that lashes these sermons spits forth vitriol which ignites and engulfs the musical foundation, however, through the inferno and ashes of this fusion, this is where the crux of the album can be experienced, for it is within the moments where these spirits converge where it gives the feeling as though a soul convulses in total Ecstasy, one that wrestles with the concept of tasting nirvana, where the tongue only knows that of malice.
“Immerse” becomes a piece that can be dissected, and within each cut, you can baptize yourself with the ichor that pulsates from the wound, find and also rediscover a different shade of peace, the type of peace a weary soul yearns to taste, yearns to feel…and through the aura of these sounds, the soul can be in total repose.
