A celebration of the extreme sound in the basement of An Club!

On Thursday, February 26th, three bands that left their mark on the Greek scene with their second release, Eldingar with Lysistrata, Zakula with White Forest Reign Lullabies, both 2024, and Okwaho with 2023’s The Usurper Regime, descend the stairs of AnClub, Athens, for a night of powerful, heavy but also atmospheric!

Folk Black/Death Metal, idiosyncratic Thrash/Black/Death and Blackened Doom Sludge to bleed all ears!

ELDINGAR

We are Eldingar, a Black Metal band with influences from Melodic Death and Thrash, wrapped in the pagan melodies of the folk tradition. Our first project, “Maenads,” was born in 2021, while our second album, “Lysistrata,” was released in 2024.

Our melodies are raised as a song against war, as a hymn to nature; they draw inspiration from the ancient Greek spirit and reveal sensitivity towards women and humanity. With our music, we seek to give an explosive and unique experience, which goes beyond the borders of metal and touches the hearts and minds of our listeners!…

OKWAHO

Okwaho was formed in 2013. Their sound is a mixture of Blackened Doom, Sludge and Post Metal with socio-political and sometimes more personal lyrics. In September 2015 they recorded their first demo. In March 2018 they released their first, self-titled, album with more stoner elements.

In 2018-9 Okwaho was involved in composing original music for the theatrical performance Parenticide Club, based on a text by Ambrose Bierce, where they performed live during the spring, emphasizing the atmospheric and political point of view of the play.

In May 2023, they released The Usurper Regime, which shows a more extreme, sharp, and determined side of them. It is a politicized lyrical album, which found in Blackened/Post Metal soundscapes the ideal field of expression of social anger and indignation against fascism, xenophobia and repressive policies.

The band has shared the stage with Nebula (USA), Ufomammut (ITA), Ultha (GER), Ancst (GER), and also Night Stalker, Son of Nothing, Last Rizzla, Aetherian, Yovel, Automaton, and many other Greek bands, and made their first European tour with Mass Culture in May 2024.

ZAKULA

Zakula is a four-member extreme metal band from Athens, Greece. The band was formed in 2017 and consists of musicians with experience from various groups of the Greek scene.

In 2021, they released their first and self-titled album. This release was their first appearance in the discography, presenting a sound that combines influences from Death, Thrash and Black Metal. The positive reactions from the audience and critics gave the band the impetus to continue exploring their sound.

At the end of 2024, Zakula returned with their second album, White Forest Reign Lullabies. This new project marked the evolution of the band, offering a darker and more mature sound, with an emphasis on creating atmospheric and emotionally charged tracks. The album is characterized by the detailed composition and the effort of the members to incorporate their personal influences into an overall unified result.

Live performances are an important part of Zakula’s identity and stand out for their energy and spontaneity. In each live, the band brings their passion for music to the stage, creating a special atmosphere. Intensity and dynamic presence are elements that characterize their concerts, making each of their performances an authentic experience.
