Fluisteraars have always understood that Black Metal can be as much about atmosphere as aggression. On “Jacht der Mysteriën”, they push that idea further, creating something hypnotic, strange and deeply rooted in the feeling of being lost somewhere you thought you knew.
Across three long compositions, the Dutch duo build their world through repetition, abrasive guitars and a production that gives the music an unusual sense of physical space. The riffs rarely feel hurried. Instead, they circle and repeat until they become almost trance-like, allowing small melodic details to emerge from the darkness. “Grondeloos Donkere Bossen” establishes the mood immediately, balancing Raw Black Metal with a psychedelic quality that becomes increasingly prominent as the album progresses. “Condities der Afstraffing” is more restless, while “Zwarte Zomermaan” slowly expands into the album’s most atmospheric and immersive moment.

Fluisteraars
There is no obvious interest in making this an easy listen. Some passages are deliberately repetitive, occasionally pushing the listener’s patience, but that seems entirely intentional. Fluisteraars are less concerned with delivering immediate gratification than with creating a particular state of mind. The result is an album that feels connected to landscape, darkness and something almost folkloric without ever becoming predictable.
“Jacht der Mysteriën” is not necessarily Fluisteraars at their most aggressive. It is something more elusive: Black Metal stripped of urgency and allowed to breathe, repeat and mutate. A record for late nights, empty roads and getting deliberately lost.
